Welcome, New Generation Hope Team Members!
We’re so excited to be growing our team. Get to know the newest members of our staff, as well as a 2023 intern, below!
Fiona Campbell
Summer Intern — Programs
Hi! My name is Fiona Campbell and I am the summer intern here at Generation Hope. I am going into my junior year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I am majoring in Political Science with minors in Global Health, History, and Gender and Women’s Studies. I am also on the crew team here at Wisconsin. I want to pursue a future in public health, ideally from a non-profit standpoint. I am super excited to be with Generation Hope this summer and learn from the variables, people and policies that make Generation Hope such a success!
Asia Collins
Family Program Coordinator (DC)
Hello, my name is Asia! Born and raised in Washington DC; and a recent graduate from Trinity Washington University where I received a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. I am also a Generation Alumni, who always valued education given the circumstances that are placed around the teenagers of SouthEast Dc Ward 8; I have always valued the importance of education, that it is the effort of hard work and motivation that helps us grow and develop. I look forward to continuing my adventurous, fun, and supportive ways to work with scholars and their children. Just to add a little more about me outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my son, being outdoors with friends/family, and writing poetry.
Nikki Ummel
Scholar Program Coordinator (NOLA)
Hey y'all! I'm a Florida girl by way of D.C. and Mississippi and am honored to call New Orleans my forever home. A career educator turned nonprofit coordinator, I am most fulfilled when working with, alongside of, and for young people. I'm joining Generation Hope as the New Orleans Program Coordinator and am absolutely humbled to help young parents pursue higher education opportunities. When not at work, you'll find me working on my next book or hanging with my best friend (aka my sister and hero) and her two children, who are my reminder that there is still so much joy left in the world. I look forward to spending time with each of you.
Bria Wade
Scholar Program Coordinator (DC)
Hi folks! My name is Bria and I’m super excited to officially be a member of the Generation Hope team! I’m proud to be from New Jersey, but have planted roots in DC over the last 8 years and have grown to love this city and the community more and more each day. I graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in African American Studies and a minor in Education, Inquiry & Justice. Since graduating, I have been deeply involved in education across the city, working in both education nonprofits and charter schools. Throughout this work, I’ve learned so much about the nuances of the education system and feel even more committed to the work of reducing barriers for folks at the margins. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting young people and hope to channel the wisdom of my mother who attained two degrees as a teen parent.
In my free time, I’m very likely watching reality tv with friends or trying a new DC restaurant to find the best cocktail in the city!
