Meet Our 2022 Summer Interns

We’re thrilled to introduce two interns supporting Generation Hope’s work this summer. Get to know them below!

Hi! My name is Ali Lehman, and I am the Career Services Intern at Generation Hope this summer. I just completed my sophomore year at Georgetown University, where I am majoring in anthropology and minoring in Computer Science and Education, Inquiry, and Justice. I am very excited to work with Generation Hope to support Scholars and their families through career programming and coaching curriculum. As an anthropology major with a focus on education, I am passionate about how cultural and systemic barriers such as stigma and structural racism lead to unequal educational outcomes. I hope to use my involvement in Career Readiness Education, work as a Teacher’s Assistant, and experience in childcare to help support Generation Hope Scholars. In my free time, I like to weightlift, spend time with friends and family, listen to podcasts, and watch Survivor.

Hello! My name is Caroline Yermal and I am the Summer Program Intern for Generation Hope. I am a rising senior at the University of Maryland, double majoring in Public Policy and Criminal Justice and minoring in Nonprofit Management and Social Innovation. I began my passion for the nonprofit sector in high school working with nonprofits in my hometown, Wilmington, NC, especially in education-focused organizations. I have continued this passion into college, focusing my studies on education equity policy and working directly with DC students as a mentor. I am excited to join Generation Hope this summer to further my passion and work for education access for all individuals, especially those facing the societal and economic barriers seen with teen parenting. Outside of work I love to go on walks and hangout in nature, as well as explore new TV shows and movies.
