Nanayaa Obeng
Learning & Innovation Coordinator
Nanayaa (she/her) and her family immigrated to the United States from Ghana, where she spent much of her childhood. Coming from a country in the global south has shaped many of Nanayaa’s values and is a driving force behind her desire to do work that leads to transformative change in our society. She is excited to join the Generation Hope team with her passion for racial equity, systemic change, and justice. She cares about viewing issues and learning with an intersectional lens that takes into account people’s lived experiences. She hopes to bring that into her work here at Generation Hope. She graduated from George Mason University with her BA in Government and International Politics with a minor in Business. In her free time, you will find her either reading a book or listening to music/a podcast while on a walk.

Why I chose this quote:
I love this quote because it's from Audre Lorde whose work has been so influential to me. Additionally, I sometimes hold back from saying things or expressing myself because I worry that it might be taken the wrong way or I may say the wrong thing. However, this quote serves as a reminder to me that I should speak and share my thoughts in every situation.
