Min (he/him) is an aspiring humanitarian and human rights advocate. Having been blessed with a deep appreciation for a person’s potential, his lifelong goal and passion is to ensure that everyone has the means to realize their best selves. His full name, Minseong (민성), means “Gentle Star,” and he wishes to live true to his name by being a warm presence that can empower people to navigate through darkness.
Throughout college, Min has engaged with a range of pressing cause areas, such as genocide prevention, aid governance, Euro-Atlantic security, housing insecurity, and more. He graduated from Yale University in May 2024 with a B.A. in Global Affairs and Economics.
As a part of the Generation Hope team, Min is excited to support young parents so that they can thrive both as parents and as individuals. He hopes to do so by helping expand access to the same kind of empowerment that a college experience and education has provided him.
Outside of work, Min loves writing music, arranging songs on the piano, and cooking! His love for Korean and Italian food reflects his upbringing, which was split between Korea, Italy, and Germany.
Quote:
“Even if we’re not always so glad to be here, it’s our task to immerse ourselves anyway: wade straight through it, right through the cesspool, while keeping eyes and hearts open. And in the midst of our dying, as we rise from the organic and sink back ignominiously into the organic, it is a glory and a privilege to love what Death doesn’t touch.”
– Donna Tart, The Goldfinch
Why I chose this quote:
These words come from the novel’s protagonist, Theo, who has agonized through much chaos and pain. Even as his experiences weigh heavily on his soul, and even as his faith in one’s heart wavers, he intentionally chooses not to lose sight of the radiance that life can take on. The quote is a harrowingly beautiful display of defiance towards the horrors we come to face in life.
As someone who believes in a collective stake in striving for equitable prosperity, Min is inspired by Theo’s outlook. Even as the world may seem bleak and indifferent, it is his hope that we will remain resilient—for life, for love, for dignity, and for each other.
