Jess Myers
Senior Higher Ed Impact Manager
Identifying as a social worker at heart and student affairs professional by practice, Jess Myers (she/her) joins Generation Hope with 15 years of experience working in higher education on both the ground level and at leadership tables working in the functional areas of residential life, campus life, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Jess has spent the past decade leading the Women’s Center at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) where she developed her passion for working with student parents and adult learners and has extensive experience supporting survivors of gender-based harm and advocating for inclusive institutional change.
Jess earned her B.A. in social work from The Catholic University of America and her M.S. in student affairs in higher education from Colorado State University. Jess is a third generation Baltimorian, feminist, aspiring anti-racist advocate, and a proud member of the LGBTQ community. Personally, Jess is interested in grief work + healing and how workplaces can more effectively support its people experiencing grief, loss, and personal and systemic trauma. Jess loves traveling, reading books, listening to podcasts, her cat, and cycling both outdoors and on her Peloton.

Why I chose this quote:
So many of us chase after the cult of perfection and productivity hoping people think we have it ALL together or feeling like a failure if we don't. This keeps us from truly knowing each other and ourselves. Sharing our truths, even the hard ones, helps demystify the idea that we need to be “perfect” and allows support to be given and received more authentically in community.
