Asia Collins
Family Program Coordinator (DC)

Asia Collins is a recent graduate from Trinity Washington University with a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice who transferred from Old Dominion University; she is also a Generation Hope Alumni! As a teen mom, she has always valued the terms “family and village” and being a young mom, she has learned the importance of creating her village and being a part of others. As someone who has enjoyed working with children in DC Charter Schools, Asia has connected to the belief that schools are places where all students experience the outlet to dream and direct their own knowledge with the connections to their school environment. Asia is looking forward to implementing her skills and knowledge to uphold Generation Hope’s mission of helping teen parents and their children be successful and experience economic mobility within their future. However, outside of work Asia enjoys spending quality time with her son, being outdoors with friends/family, and one of her favorite hobbies being singing.

Quote:

“Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.” — Suzy Kassem

Why I chose this quote:

I love this quote because it always motivates me to turn my fears into reality; for example, when I announced to my family that I was pregnant while in college everyone decided to doubt me and tell me everything I couldn’t do. I believed them and it became a revolving door of the fear that I couldn’t be capable of furthering my education. However I molded that fear into an accomplishment each semester by showing myself self motivation and the support of GH. I learned that even through mistakes there is always a happy ending. I graduated May 20, 2023 on time within my four years. I faced my fears of self doubt even through the obstacles!
